40 Years Milestone

From The Beginning to Now.

Kuang Pei San Food Products Public Co., Ltd. established since 1st November 1979 with registered capital 2,000,000 Baht. Our flagship product is sardine in tomato sauce wrapped in orange label under trademark “Pompui” and “Smiling Fish” with production capacity 1 million cans a year.

In 1982, launched Fried Sardine with Chili, followed by Sardine Paste under brand “Larb Pla-Yim”

In 1983, the company has invested in modern machine and equipment to increase annual production capacity to 90 million cans, and started international sales under brand “Smiling Fish”

In 1985, fried baby clams and seasoned cockles as new product lines had been introduced to diversify portfolio. Pompui Fried baby clam with chili became a signature product, and it is still well accepted until today.

Easy open lid had been used instead of normal lid. Fried Catfish with Chili was the fist product changed to use easy open lid.

In 1990, Pompui in collaboration with The Badminton Association of Thailand has organized the first Pompui Badminton Championship at Trang Province for the competition for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup. In 1999, this tournament has been level up to be one of Asian Satellite Circuit tournaments approved by the Badminton World Federation, and then turn to International Series and International Challenge respectively. Pompui Badminton Championship is now considered Thailand’s third largest international tournament joined by over 1500 international badminton players each year.

In 1994, there was a significant transition of the company. In this year, Pompui’s new factory with advanced equipment and machine had been built in area of 39.54 acres in Na Tham Nua, Muang Trang, Trang, with bigger annual production capacity of 130 million cans.

On 17 December 1996, H.R.M. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn gracefully presided over Pompui new factory opening. The princess spent time inspecting production line attentively.

In 2000, Pompui introduced new product in pouch for the first time. Snack made from baby clams in luxury pouch packaging was introduced. Pompui is the very first company who brings innovative technology to bake raw material without using oil in the process. Crispy Baby Clam is first product in our Snack category.

In 2005, new product under the brand ‘Kaao Sook’ was lauched. There are 7 flavors: Rice with Fried Sardines & Basil leaves, Rice with Fried Sardines & Salted Chinese Olive, Rice with Spicy Fried Sardines, Rice with Chuchee Fried Sardines, Rice with Fried Sardines in Shoyu Sauce, Rice with Green Curry Fried Sardines, Rice with Pepper Garlic Sardines.

In 2006, “Kaao Sook Congee” was introduced into market to be one of ready-to-eat option for consumer.

In 2005, paper wrapping label was changed to film wrapping for more convenience and better looks.

In 2010, Crispy Shrimp and Crispy Baby Clams Spicy Salad were launched to extend the snack product line. Pompui Crispy Baby Clams Spicy Salad won the 3rd prize of Innovative “Healthy Food” product contest organized by Department of Industry Promotion, Ministry of Industry in 2012.

In 2013, Pompui had started foodservice business obtaining a license agreement from State Railways of Thailand to supply Food and Beverage service to 14 carriages of Sprinter service covering 5 main routes: Chiang Mai, Sila At Uttaradit, Ubon Ratchathani, Surat Thani and Yala.  Since 1 August 2013 until today, more than 30 flavors such as Massaman, Chicken with sweet sauce, Chu Chee Mackerels, Fried baby clam with garlic and pepper etc. are developed and supplied.

In 2016, Pompui launched ready-to-eat products in pouch packaging under concept Smiling Meal. There are 5 flavors in which 4 Flavors made from cooked chicken:   Kua Kling Chicken, Stir Fried Chicken with Basil Leaves, Chicken Massaman Curry and Stir-Fried Chicken with Garlic and Pepper, and there is one flavor made from Fish, Gaeng Som Mahi-Mahi Fish and Coconut Shoots.

In 2017, Curry Paste 5 flavors: Pad Thai Sauce, Musaman Curry Paste, Tom Yum Paste, Yellow Curry Paste and Green Curry Paste were launched.

New product added into 3 product groups:

  • 4 new flavors of crispy baby clam: original, garlic, seaweed, and tom yum flavors
  • 3 new variants of ready-to-eat products: Egg Stew with Spices and Chicken, Chicken with Thai Spicy Sauce, and Chicken Chili Curry
  • Sardine in tomato sauce
